  Summation Tutorial:

Using Multiple Note Digests

Overview:

In order to have quicker, more concise access to your notes within one or many transcripts you may find it easier to use multiple digests. In this way, you can not only group notes by issue, but also include marked text without having to add a note. You may have multiple digests for a case and even a transcript. You may include just one transcript or all of them in your digest as well.

By default, your digest file for a given transcript is called just that, Digest. To create a digest, you would simply click on 'Digest' while viewing a transcript. Then select 'Produce Digest'. To name it something issue-specific, click on the button marked 'Change Name' and re-name it. Try to adhere to an 8.3 format, meaning no spaces or long filenames as I have below to name a digest for the issue 'Fire Safety'.

Once you have named your digest, Summation will take you back to the screen to produce it. All you need to do from here is select an issue, or all issues, select the transcripts you wish to include in your digest, and click 'Produce Digest'.

To view your digest you just click 'Digest' and then 'View Digest'. This will open your most recent or current note digest. If you wish to view a different one, select 'Name File' from the 'Digest' menu before selecting 'View Digest'. You can then either browse to the file you wish to view, or type in the filename. The dialog looks identical to the Change Name box from the Produce Digest option. You can have several digests open at once (they will open directly on top of one another). Like any window, you may re-size them and arrange them on your screen.
