  Summation Tutorial:

Transferring Text from a Transcript into a Case Outline

Overview:

You can transfer excerpts of testimony from your transcripts into the Case Organizer. This is quite useful if you are scrolling through a deposition and want to quickly insert some key points into outline form. All you have to do is to highlight the text you want to insert into the Case Organizer and use the right-click mouse button. Transcript excerpts in the Case Organizer are labeled with the transcript name, followed by the page and line(s) of the excerpt.

How to Transfer Text from a Transcript

  1. Open the transcript containing the text you want to transfer to the Case Organizer.

  2. On the toolbar, click on to open the Case Organizer.

  3. Highlight the portion of text you want to insert into the Case Organizer.

  4. Click on the highlighted selection and, while holding down the left mouse button, drag the text over to the Case Organizer. You know that you are dragging text when the mouse pointer changes to look like a document with a plus sign when you are over the Case Organizer.

  5. When the mouse pointer is positioned over the line in the Case Organizer where you want to insert the text, release the mouse button. The text is inserted into the active outline with the transcript page and line number(s), and the description.
