Backing Up Document Summary and Note Databases

  Overview:

To safeguard your data and protect the investment of time and energy that it represents, every database must be backed up regularly. How often you do so depends on how frequently and to what degree the database is modified. Having a recent backup on hand provides you with a safety net should your system crash or some other type of damage to an individual database occurs.

Both your document summaries and transcript annotations are stored in their own databases. You can back up (and restore ) your databases easily from the Case Folder - Main Window.

How to Backup a Document Summary Database

  1. From the Case Folder - Main Window, select Backup Database… from the Case menu.

  2. Check the Document DB option box by clicking on it.

  3. Click on Backup.

  4. When the back up is complete, a message appears indicating that the database has been copied. Click on OK. Your database is now ready to be restored any time you need it.
How to Backup a Note Database
  1. From the Case Folder - Main Window, select Backup Database… from the Case menu.

  2. Check the Note DB option box by clicking on it.

  3. Click on Backup.

  4. When the back up is complete, a message appears indicating that the database has been copied. Click on OK. Your database is now ready to be restored any time you need it.
