TechNote: Moving A Form Between Different Cases on The Same Computer
The case which currently holds your form is referred to as the "Source Case". The case to which you are bringing the form is referred to as the "Target Case".
Step 1(Preparation)
Go to the Target Case. If the Target Case has not been created, create it now.
From the main menu of the Target Case, select Case\ Customize.
Write down all the information provided in the Database Name field. The first part of the line gives you the path for the database. The last word is your Target Case's current default database name. (e.g. in the Fisher Vs. Ace Oil case, the entry might read: F:\SUMNET\FVAO\FVAODB where F:\SUMNET\FVAO\ is the path and FVAODB is the name of the database.)
Step 2 (Cloning the Database From the Source Case to the Target Case )
Go to the Source Case
From the Case Folder- Main Menu of the Source Case select Options\ Utilities.
Select Clone Database.
In the Database to clone prompt you will see your database name already entered. (If you would like to clone another database use the Browse button to select it now.)
In the Database to clone TO prompt, type in the full path you wrote down at the Target Case's Case Customize window, or use the Browse button to select it.
Do not use the same database name as the Target Case's unless you wish to overwrite the Target Case's database. (Summation® will prompt you if you accidentally type in the same name.)
When everything has been filled in, select Okay to begin cloning. When prompted, you may choose to either copy or not to copy lookup tables with your clone.
Step 3 (Loading the Database and Form in the Target Case)
Select Case \ Customize.
Double click in the Database Name field.
Browse to the case directory for this case and select the database that you just cloned.
Click okay to update the Case Information.
To load the correct form select File\ Select Form.
Select the appropriate form from the list and click Okay.
You have successfully copied and loaded the cloned database, as well as its form.
Note: If the cloned database included multiple forms, these were all copied during the cloning procedure and can be selected as in step 3.(this is an updated version of the fax in Knowledge base.)
