The case which currently holds your form is referred to as the "Source Case".
The case to which you are bringing the form is referred to as the "Target Case".
(Preparation)
|
- Go to the Target Case. If the Target Case has not been created, create it now.
- From the main menu of the Target Case, press F4 for Custom Case.
- Write down all the information given at the Database Name entry. The first part of the line gives you the path for the database. The last word is your Target Case's current default database name. (e.g. in the Fisher Vs. Ace Oil case, the entry might read: F:\SUMNET\FVAO\FVAODB where F:\SUMNET\FVAO\ is the path and FVAODB is the name of the database.)
|
(Cloning the Database From the Source Case to the Target Case )
|
- Open Go to the Source Case
- From the main menu of the Source Case select Database Functions and, from here, Utilities.
- Select Clone DB Structure.
- In the Clone DB Structure window's From prompt you will see your database name already entered. If you would like to clone another database from within the same case, type in *, press enter, and then select it from the resulting window. Press enter to move to the window's To prompt.
- In the Clone DB Structure window's To prompt type in the full path you wrote down at the Target Case's Custom Case window.
- Do not use the same database name as the Target Case's unless you wish to overwrite the Target Case's database. (Summation® will prompt you if you accidentally type in the same name.)
- When everything has been filled in, press F10 to begin cloning. When prompted, you may choose to either copy or not to copy lookup tables with your clone.
|
(Loading the Database and Form in the Target Case)
|
- Go to the Target Case. To load this newly copied database as the default database (i.e. the database you automatically enter every time you begin this case), return to Database Functions. Select Database Defaults and, from there, select Database To Load.
- In the Database to Load window type *, which will clear the line, then press enter. From the resulting window, highlight the database which you have just copied into the case and press enter.
- When this has been filled in, press F10.
- If you would like it to be the default database, answer yes to the "Make Default Database?" prompt.
- From within the Database Defaults menu, select Forms to Use.
- Highlight the form which you would like to use and press enter.
- At this point you have successfully copied and loaded the cloned database, as well as loading its form. You have an empty database to work in wich the desired form.
Note: If your database included multiple forms, all these forms will have been transferred during the cloning procedure.
