CaseScan

CaseScan was primarily designed as a tool for document organization. It is a relatively easy-to-use instrument for "thumbing through" images, arranging them into document groupings and either committing them to Summation or exporting them to a DII file for later commitment. Although CaseScan will work with most generic Twain and Isis scanner drivers and utilizes Xerox's basic Textbridge OCR capabilities, it is not a production level scanning tool or OCR engine.

Every scanner comes with scanning software; generally speaking, that software has been developed specifically to work with a particular scanner or scanner series, and has been optimized for that scanner's hardware configuration. It is perfectly acceptable to use a given scanner's software to scan images, and then use CaseScan to organize and commit those images to a Summation case. In many cases, such as those involving large scanning jobs or production scanners (capable of scanning 40+ pages per minute), it is even recommended.

The important thing to remember when using a third-party scanner is to put blank pages in between documents to serve as document breaks . This will save cleanup time later on. Please be sure to use white or very light colored paper for your document separtors (dark or very bright colored paper may not work and is not recommended).
